Habanero Orange
Perhaps the most famous and commonly used of the Habanero peppers, the Orange Habanero has a crisp tropical flavour and is blisteringly hot, a perfect introduction to very hot chillies.
Most chilliheads would agree that the Habanero is the undisputed 'King of all the Chilli' species. Apart from its clean and intense heat, the Orange Habanero also has an intense flavour and aroma, a little like apricot, and is the most popular of the Habanero family.
Measuring in between 200,000 to 350,000 Scoville Heat Units, the Orange Habanero isn't for the faint hearted. Due to its rich flavour profile, it is commonly used in sauces and cooking and is used in Caribbean jerk sauces.
The Orange Habanero ripens from green to bright orange. Its skin is thin and waxy with some wrinkling. Their pods have a distinctive lantern-like shape.
The Orange Habanero is thought to be a better grower than their red counterpart.
Warning: extremely hot ~ caution this chilli will not discriminate; Under no circumstances should one of these chillies be left with an unwitting person, especially a child.
