Trinidad Moruga Scorpion - Red
One for the dare devils, the Moruga Scorpion is one of the world's hottest chillies with pods measuring in at over 1 million SHU. One of our favourites, producing large and consistent pods.
The Trinidad Moruga Scorpion briefly held the record for the world's hottest chilli in 2012, with an average heat rating of more than 1.2million Scoville Heat Units and the hottest of the pods measuring at over 2 million SHU when tested by The New Mexico State University's Chile Pepper Institute.
The Trinidad Moruga Scorpion is a real creeper, with the heat lingering long after the last bite. The pods mature to red, but also available are Chocolate Trinidad Morgua Scorpions (which we think are hotter than the Reds) and the Yellow Moruga Scorpions.
The fruit is fairly sweet, if you can taste it beneath the heat.
Warning: extremely hot ~ caution this chilli will not discriminate; Under no circumstances should one of these chillies be left with an unwitting person, especially a child.
