Guero chile translates to 'pale chilli' or 'blonde chilli', after its unique pale yellow colour.

The guero chilli is triangular in shape, with thick skin. It is similar in heat to the Jalapeno, measuring in between 5000-8000 Scoville Heat units. The colour makes the guero chile an attractive addition to fresh salsas and salads; when roasted the chilli is richer in flavour.

The guero chile actually matures to orange then red, but is best picked when pale yellow, as pictured.

This chilli has various names, dependent upon the region from which it was harvested; also known as the Caribe chile, the Caloro chile, and the Rio chilli.
